Check out how this history exhibit shook out! It w Check out how this history exhibit shook out! It was installed in @flsseattle's brand new and super beautiful creative space. The spine of the timeline is made from oak boards that were lovingly cut in a downpour of rain, hand sanded for hours, and finished in my parents crowded garage (flip thru to see some in-progress pics +LINK IN BIO to get up close and personal with the exhibit and to view the rest of the dope FLS creative space -- THERE IS ART BY LOCAL VIET ARTISTS ON THE WALLS!).
.
This was the very first time I was asked to make something so physical and so 'analogue' in a professional capacity -- cuz my work is obvs supes digital -- and so it was a little intimidating at the beginning cuz it was like, "Oh what if I use the money budgeted for this to make a total disaster?" But thankfully it worked out, and I am super jazzed about the end result.
.
The curated content and writing of this exhibit was done by an amazing research duo, @little.boyd and Truc Ho! Huge thanks to @val_k_t, FLS's operations director who poured hours of support into this. And finally, the greatest of thanks to my brother, @tacticoolmichael who spent hours helping me build and install this monster. Without him, I honestly am not sure how this could've been pulled off!

Hi! The illustration above is gonna be printed on Hi! The illustration above is gonna be printed on postcards going to incarcerated folx in Stafford Creek, Shelton, Monroe, Purdy, and Clallam Bay facilities. There will be notes written on the back of the cards intending to give these folx much needed words of support and hope. (You can donate to this effort via LINK IN MY BIO).
.
I got connected to this through my friend @flo_sum, who is a community sponsor for Stafford Creek Correction Center's Asian Pacific Islander Cultural Awareness Group (@apicag_). With COVID, it's been difficult for community sponsors like them to stay connected with leaders in cultural groups like APICAG. To help alleviate some of that, they and others are organizing a campaign to pull together mini packages containing poems, art, articles (and more!) to send to members of cultural groups across various prison facilities. (Remember that racism ensures that a disproportionate number of BIPOCs get stuck in our criminal justice and prison systems.)
.
Please help this effort (print and postage aren't cheap!) through donating via link in my bio.
.
(Note: this campaign is organized by APICAG, LDO, BPC, FIGHT, and API Sisters sponsors and community members.) ❤❤
Hello! Check out the many renditions of this littl Hello! Check out the many renditions of this little bowl of phở, most notably as the @socolachocs face mask I'm modeling in image #4, the aromatic #socolachocolatier truffle in image #5 (hit up @socolachocs for their amazing, artisan chocolates) and the dance/party rave in slide #6.
.
🍜 Why the dedication (aka, why did this get so many remixes lol)? Because this beloved bowl of soup does a great job repping the homeland as well as family!

🥩 Fun fact: the phở most of us are used to eating in States is a Southern/Saigon-style phở. Its arch rival is the Northern/Hanoi-style phở, which is super rare to find in this country. The reason Southern-style reigns supreme here is that the Vietnamese diaspora immediately post-war comprised South Vietnamese refugees fleeing the country. (Fun fact #2: the North-South politics is why my parents like to call Northern-style pho the communist/inferior/shitty kind of pho.)
Super excited to share this story on @butchery101 Super excited to share this story on @butchery101 (Kristina Glinoga) that I wrote for @eaterseattle (LINK IN BIO!). As a Filipinx woman, Kristina stands out in a field that is white male dominated, a fact that she does not take lightly. She honored me with her honesty and her frankness in our interview together, speaking out about how toxicity has affected her career, how COVID has affected it --- as well speaking on ethical meat consumption and why she loves and is so passionate about what she does. And huge shoutout to editors @gabeguarente and Nicole Adlman for their partnership on this!
Yo! Here some visual identity work for @adadevacad Yo! Here some visual identity work for @adadevacademy that was done last year. I thought this turned out really awesome. Flip thru the slides to see diff looks (logos, icons, some design work), and arrive at the last slide, where you can see the original logo (which was something we wanted to be reverent of, during the rebrand process).
.
I usually don't share any branding work on this account, even though I do A LOT of visual branding. I think I got really locked into maintaining an Insta aesthetic and kept it strictly illustration on this account, but lately, I've been like, RELAX, STACY. It's fine to share other types of work. People won't hate you for it.
.
(I'm actually procrastinating on some Ada design stuff right now. So I thought I'd just like, post this up and tag them so they explicitly know that I am truly not working on their stuff right now.)
Check out this making of video for an illustration Check out this making of video for an illustration I did for @subaru_usa’s Drive magazine! This piece was for a spread about Subaru Drive’s Community Champions, featuring amazing people making a difference in their communities across the country.

I’m super proud of how this turned out and hope you get some value out of listening to me talk fast about what it was like to illustrate this. LMK what you think!
